LAUREN___________________________________________

Lauren was featured this past April on our blog (“Lauren:  LWB’s Featured Child of the Week“).  At that time she was unable to receive an education of any kind.  Thanks to our generous sponsors, Lauren now has a personal tutor with whom she has formed a close relationship. We can see the evidence of their relationship in the reports we receive. It is doubly rewarding to be sharing the news that Lauren is available for adoption in addition to how much she seems to be benefiting from our education program.
Lauren’s tutor has fantastic things to say about her progress over the last six months. They have been working together physically, emotionally, and academically. They are physically strengthening her legs and fingers by doing exercises and hand work. During this time the tutor talks with Lauren about how she is doing, her studies, and her dreams in life. Finally, of course, they get to the actual tutoring! The areas in which she receives academic tutoring are Chinese, math, music, and art. In Chinese, her tutor reports that she is always learning new words and utilizing her creativity in language by creating stories from pictures. She has mastered addition and subtraction at this point, so the tutor is working on word problems in math in hopes of making it more applied and fun to learn. Lauren is singing songs and getting to know them well. In art she practices her drawing skills, as well as makes larger projects with scissors and glue…all of which helps to develop her creativity and imagination.
Just listen to some of the things Lauren’s tutor has shared that we think demonstrate who Lauren truly is:
* Her smile is not so shy anymore. You will see her smile now so happy and confident.
* She can feel the fun of singing songs now and has mastered the right rhythms.
* She can cut any patterns using her imagination.
* She is anxious to learn more and always looks forward to meeting me again.
Finally at twelve years old, Lauren has the opportunity to be matched with a family through the CCCWA’s Waiting Child Program. What we know about her special need is that it is referred to as “extrophy of the lower limbs.” A fellow LWB volunteer and physical therapist who volunteers with LWB had the pleasure of meeting Lauren this past summer reports that she cannot bear weight on her lower limbs and is currently using a wheelchair.  We know there is a family waiting for Lauren, and we hope that they will soon come forward.
Please contact us for more information on Lauren!
Love Without Boundaries proudly advocates for adoption but is not an adoption agency. We invite you to contactadoptionassistance@lwbmail.com with questions about a child we have featured and encourage you to contact your local adoption agency for more information about China’s Waiting Child Program.
UPDATE:  FTIA has totally waived their agency fees for this wonderful child!

SUMMER___________________________________________

She has been living with the same foster family since 2005, but reports that she would like to be adopted internationally. She goes to 4th grade in the community and has friends through school that she often goes home with to play or for celebrating holidays. She has high myopia and strabismus, so has difficulty seeing the board at school and has trouble learning to read and write; however she has good study habits and will work with her foster mother and sister in her spare time to better understand her assignments. She prefers Chinese, and she can recite the text, can write synonyms and antonyms, can make up idioms, can write sentences according to the requirements; on math, apart from the multiplication-division, she can so some simple story problem; on English, she can read the text, read the simple daily used words, can say some English fruits words, like apple, orange, banana.
Summer has a ready smile, likes watching TV, can sing songs and dance with the music. She likes having computer classes, can do some small games with computer, can type words with Pinyin slowly; she likes outdoor activity, and her favorite color is yellow.

It appears as thought there was a concern that Summer had Down’s Syndrome when she was one year old and a chromosome test was done. The results seem to indicate she does not have DS (per review by an international adoption physician) and the orphanage said they would be willing to have another test done should a family request it. However the diagnosis of DS has been included in her medical records.

Summer is considered a Special Focus child, so married couples or singles could commit to her without having a dossier already logged in.
