Lifeline has been granted a very special opportunity in China. We have formed a relationship, under the guidance of the CCCWA (formerly CCAA), with an  orphanage in MaoMing, Guangdong,  China. MaoMing is home to approximately sixty children with medical special needs. Along with the privilege of finding homes for these precious children, we will also be partnering with the orphanage from a humanitarian perspective, providing support in many areas, including Lifeline’s medical mission trip in July of this year.
We are advocating for precious children at MoaMing. These children have varying medical special needs. To learn more about any of these children, please contact Lisa Kelly or Logan Gibbons or call us at 205.967.0811.

Disclaimer: The following precious children are eligible for adoption; however, the matching process for these children will begin when we have accurate files in hand.  We anticipate receiving the complete files from CCCWA in 2 to 6 months.  Our MaoMing program is not the same as a shared or individual list program.  Lifeline has begun a MaoMing Waiting List for any interested families.   This, however, does not guarantee nor hold the child when identified.  Files are not currently available for these particular children, but will be received shortly.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions or interest

Gene was nearly 7 years old when we met him. He is described as a very happy child who likes to talk a lot.  He is very smart and has an excellent memory and learning abilities. He’s able to count up to at least 20. The orphanage staff told us that they have not yet sent him to school because he is too young for that right now. He is a very handsome boy.
Gene is diagnosed with cerebral palsy that affects both his legs and his arms. His right side is more involved than his left and his legs more so than his arms. His left side is not very affected. He is able to walk well on his own, but since he has some difficulty with his gait, when he runs, he tends to fall. He has been receiving physical therapy for the last two years and the orphanage staff say that he is still improving. They say that he doesn’t have as many friends as the other children because he isn’t able to keep up with the other boys. The nannies say that in spite of his special need, he is fully independent. He is continent and is able to take good care of himself. His speech is very clear and is not affected by the cerebral palsy and he can see and hear well. The volunteer doctor at the orphanage noted that he has a right positive babinski sign.

He has had two in the last month. According to his caregiver, when having a seizure, he bites his lip, sits down and his hands shake a little, but they only last for a few seconds. He is very perceptive and he saw another boy with epilepsy have a seizure after biting a pepper, so he will not eat peppers. The volunteer doctor visiting the orphanage observed that Shelby is slightly hypotonic and her reflexes are slightly decreased which is normal for children with Down Syndrome. There is a large space between her big toe and her other toes. She has no simian creases in her hands, but her fingers are slightly shortened and stubby. The volunteer doctor noted that Shelby has a slight nystagmus, but her optic nerve appears to be normal.

ANGEL____________________________________________

Sweet, precious Angel is only 4 years old.  Please read about this beautiful Angel!

ID: Angel SP.FAJ.1206.32308.0

This child is a part of the Special Focus program

Angel is a shy little girl. Her caregivers report that she doesn’t talk. She will grab food in her hands, but doesn’t put the food into her mouth. The orphanage staff says that she eats a diet mostly of milk or biscuits soaked in milk. The caregivers say that each day, she spends about half of her time in her crib and half of her time on the floor. She is able to sit well on her own. She doesn’t usually play with other children. A volunteer doctor who was at the orphanage observed that the back of her head is flat and she has a big tongue, but her liver and spleen seem normal, her hands do not have a simian crease and she is a bit hypotonic. The volunteer doctor also noted that she seems to have failed to thrive. Angel's greatest need right now is a family who will give her plenty of individual attention and help her reach her full potential.

This child is listed with WACAP through a special partnership project with his/her orphanage. At this time, his/her file is not eligible to be transferred to a different agency.  There is a $4,200 Promise Childgrant for eligible families for this adoption. The doctor at the orphanage says that she has congenitally fused vertebrae and they are short and flat which makes her spine shorter than normal. She is incontinent and continues to wear diapers. Her left arm has delays and while she can grip things, she cannot carry heavy items very well with that hand. They say that her left leg and foot are basically normal. She has normal and clear speech and the caregivers say that she has normal mental development. She can run and likes to play with other children. Ruby is currently receiving education at the orphanage and next year they will see if she can go to a regular school outside the orphanage, but they are not sure she will be accepted because of her special need. Such a sweet smile!!!!  Elijah is 12 years old and has CP.  Please, please take a look at this wonderful child before he looses his chance for a family!!!
ID: JH4.FSQ.0399.31074.01
This child is part of the Special Focus program.
He told us very proudly that he is eleven years old.  He likes to play games with his classmates – especially basketball.  He can play any sports game that the other children play in school which is very impressive because his legs are affected by CP.  He goes to a school for the disabled, but the nannies report that they aren’t able to send all of the children to “normal” school, so some of them have to attend the special school for the disabled.  His intelligence is normal and they expect that he would do fine in a regular school.  He wants to manage a shop when he grows up because he would like to be the boss.  He is able to clean his room, dress, feed, and toilet on his own.  He doesn’t let anything stop him!  His teachers report that he is a good tempered child whose greatest need is a family of his own.

There is a $4200 Promise Child grant for eligible families for this adoption and a possible additional fee reduction. Please contact us for details. Please contact a Family Finders Case Manager for more information.

UPDATE:  Sweet Elijah is no longer on WACAP's list.  If you know where he is or have his DOB, please email me at 5puppies@comcast.net.  I would love to know that precious Elijah has a family!
